sypnosis

When a Concorde disappears, the Doctor discovers that it has been hijacked back through time to the Pleistocene Era. Arriving there, he, Nyssa and Tegan find that Concorde’s crew and passengers have been enslaved by the sinister Kalid, who is forcing them to excavate a sanctum within a mysterious citadel.

Entombed within is the consciousness of a gestalt race called the Xeraphin, who possess devastating mental powers. The Doctor learns that Kalid is really the Master, who plans to harness the evil side of the Xeraphin in order to wreak havoc throughout the cosmos.

NOTES

  1. Tegan and Nyssa ask the Doctor to turn back in time and save Adric’s life. The Doctor says he can’t.
  2. Nyssa mentions that the Master killed her father Tremas. (The Keeper of Traken)
  3. After the illusion of Heathrow has been broken, the Doctor comments that he wishes he still had his scarf from his previous incarnation, which he unravelled after his regeneration to find his way around the TARDIS in Castrolvalva.
  4. Tegan rejoins the TARDIS crew again in Arc of Infinity.
  5. The argument about Adric’s death and the possibility of going back to rescue him continues Spare Parts and Lackaday Express.
  6. The Doctor makes a second attempt to get to the Great Exhibition in the novel Empire of Death. But he doesn’t actually get there until his eighth incarnation in Other Lives.
